Hunting First Aid Kits from The Sportsman's Doctor

Whether you hunt recreationally or with a specific goal in mind, health and safety is a vital part of your trek into the wilderness. And hunting trips typically require more preparation than checking off a basic camping list of packing recommendations! Hunting requires preparation involving gun safety and storage; guarding against tick bites on humans and potentially pets; fall safety; avoiding and planning for potentially broken bones; and more. It's a lot to consider, and requires plenty of first aid planning and packing.

That's where we can help. The Sportsman's Doctor specializes in providing custom first aid kits to our customers meant to combat specific problems experienced in the great outdoors. Our kits are unique because we go above and beyond in providing the medical supplies you may need for all of your wilderness adventures, including high elevation treks. Every kit contains basic kit materials as well as additional prescription medications that your standard, run-of-the-mill first aid kits do not have!

Additionally, all of our kits are created and reviewed by Fred Teribury, MD. This ensures that our products are overseen by an individual with over two decades of military and medical experience, and are carefully crafted to meet every adventurer's needs. Plus, when working with The Sportsman’s Doctor, you will always have access to a medical doctor/provider who is experienced and board-certified in internal medicine.

Ready to start preparing for your next outdoor getaway? Our kits are ready for purchase right here on our website! We are also able to answer questions and take custom orders, and invite people looking for additional information to contact us and discuss your kit needs.

FAQs on Hunting First Aid:

I'm Not Hunting Far From Home. Do I Need A First Aid Kit?

Absolutely. First aid kits are a necessity on any hunting trip. While some items should be updated or substituted based on your hunting destination - and time spent in the field - the basic ingredients of a good first aid kit are essential on every trip. "Studying" and knowing how to use the items in your kit in advance is also important - within reason. While it's not difficult to take pain medication, it is vital for a hunter to know how to use a tourniquet should the situation arise for one. To prepare for these more advanced and dangerous scenarios, all hunters should take a basic first-aid and CPR class at minimum. A Wilderness First Aid course is even better!

Do You Have Any Guidelines On Tick Bite First Aid?

Tick bites on humans and pets alike are currently a serious concern in America. Where tick bite exposure was once relatively limited, growing tick populations across the United States have made it more likely for even people in their backyards to come into contact with these pesky critters. As a result, our exposure risk while hunting is relatively high.

Basic tick bite prevention measures are a necessity for all hunters. Additionally, studying how to safely remove a tick when found should be included in your first aid studies. If you are bitten, you will also need to schedule a follow-up visit with a doctor. For tick bite treatment, antibiotics may be necessary to address or prevent tick-borne illnesses. Specialized tick bite treatment antibiotics, however, are not included in first aid kits.
