It’s not a secret that obesity is a serious problem in the United States. According to data collected in 2015 and 2016, obesity affected about 39.8% of adults - equaling about 93.3 million people - at that time. And with these high rates of excess weight came higher risk levels for numerous health issues.
But addressing the big problem of obesity is anything but easy. From our bodies wanting to maintain a stable weight, to our regular access to high-calorie foods, to the impact the average sedentary lifestyle has on our habits, there are a number of factors that can help us gain weight and interfere with our efforts to lose weight. For people struggling with weight loss and management, these factors act as barriers, causing frustration and keeping you away from the healthy state you want to achieve.
That's where we can help. The Sportsman's Doctor has expanded into telemedicine for weight loss. Through this service, we can provide you with a weight loss consultation focused specifically on helping medically obese individuals address their weight. With our feedback and prescription appetite suppressants, you will be able to safely work towards your weight loss goal - and will finally see the healthy results you crave. Your weight loss consultation will be overseen by Fred Teribury, MD., ensuring that your care is managed by a professional with over two decades of military and medical experience. Plus, when working with The Sportsman’s Doctor, you will always have access to a medical doctor/provider who is experienced and board-certified in internal medicine.
Ready to schedule your weight loss consultation? We’re ready to talk to you! We are also able to answer questions prior to your consultation and invite people looking for additional information to contact us and discuss your weight loss needs.
Due to the nature of the medication prescribed by Fred Teribury, MD., we recommend our particular weight loss services and prescriptions to people who are clinically obese. This means we are not the best resource for those looking to drop a few pounds; instead, we are best able to address people struggling with medical obesity.
Telemedicine allows us to connect with and support more people on their weight loss journey. By taking advantage of telemedicine, patients can eliminate the need to hunt for a Pennsylvania weight loss doctor; save the time otherwise spent researching multiple weight loss clinics in North Carolina; and even save time otherwise spent waiting in a weight loss center waiting room. By removing these barriers, we hope to make it easier for people to take control of their weight and health.
At this time, The Sportsman's Doctor’s telemedicine for weight loss service is only available in the following states:
The cost of a weight loss consultation with Fred Teribury, MD. will be $55.
With this consultation fee, you will receive an evaluation via a telemedicine appointment. Following this discussion and review, a prescription for phentermine (for 30 tablets and 1 refill) will be sent to a pharmacy of your choice. Note that the medication itself will not be included in your initial evaluation fee.
Phentermine is an appetite suppressant - used together with diet and exercise - to treat obesity. It’s important to note that its use is recommended for people who are obese, and who have failed to lose enough weight with diet and exercise alone. If you are looking to lose a few pounds, this prescription is not for you.
Phentermine helps with weight loss by suppressing your appetite - thereby decreasing your hunger and/or making you feel fuller for longer.
Like any medication, Phentermine can cause side effects. People using this medication have reported the following symptoms:
Fred Teribury, MD. will discuss any and all potential side effects with you in-depth during your initial consultation and will ensure that you know how to address them should they develop.
This is a question that Fred Teribury, MD. will answer based on your medical history and current health status. Generally speaking, although phentermine is one of the most commonly prescribed weight-loss medications, it isn't a good option if you have heart disease, high blood pressure, an overactive thyroid gland or glaucoma. Because of this, it’s important to be 100% honest with him about your medical history during your consultation. You must also follow any and all instructions provided on dosages, daily use of the medication, etc.
Some insurances may cover the cost of a Phentermine prescription at your local pharmacy. If your insurance does not, contact your closest pharmacies to discuss their pricing and determine who offers the medication at the best price. Ideally, you will find a pharmacy that charges less than $30 for 30 tablets.
